Tower of London

Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat, the castle was expanded in several phases, especially under the leadership of Richard the Lionheart, Henry III and Edward I in the twelfth and XIII. The general layout of the late thirteenth century has remained despite subsequent activity.
The Tower of London has played a prominent role in English history. It was besieged several times and have it controlled was important to control the country. The tower has served as an armory, treasury, menagerie, Royal Mint, public records, and home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.
